Norwich Dog Jogging

We will run with your dog

Do you find your dog has still got lots of energy even though you have been for a walk? There are some dogs that a walk just isn’t enough.

This is where Treks n Tails can help with their unique “Dog n Jog” service.

We will only ever take 1 dog out at a time for a 30min run in woodland parks, or forestry trails around Norwich.

Running is a great way for your dog to burn off extra energy and get a great workout. It not only provides cardiovascular benefits, maintains muscle tone and assists in weight management, but it can help alleviate problem behaviors that arise out of boredom. Just like people, dogs need to build up endurance and stamina slowly when starting a running program. I will customize a running program for your dog based on his or her current abilities and activity level. Dogs that display appropriate leash manners can even learn to run alongside the bike. Each session is tailored to your dog’s needs, and all runs and walks include an appropriate warm-up and cool-down. We are available rain or shine, and during inclement weather dogs will be dried off with a towel and muddy paws and bellies wiped off before entering your house.

Warm-Ups

Dogs benefit from starting periods of intense exercise with a warm-up — just like any exercise.  Each of our jogs and runs begin with a light warm-up to ensure your dog is ready for action. This part of a run is often the time when your dog will be at their most excited, so we focus on keeping them calm and gently discourage them from pulling and tugging on their leash. This focused restraint is an important activity that we use to stimulate your dog’s brain.

GPS Tracked

We track all of our runs and always share your dog’s map with you. Depending on where you live, we will either run on neighbourhood sidewalks or on City of Edmonton paths with your dog. We share a map image with you so you can know what your dog got up to without you — how fast they went, how far they went, and we always send a photo of them in action as well!

Bathroom Breaks

When you gotta go, you gotta go! We pause when your dog needs to pause, and we always clean up after them. We typically urge dogs to keep up a decent pace during runs, so we don’t stop to “smell the flowers”, but we always stop to give them time to relieve themselves at their leisure.

The Finish Line

After your dog’s run, we ensure they are clean and dry and have access to water in your home. We always carry towels in our vehicles, but we appreciate access to your hose in the summer or a bowl and a tap the rest of the year (just in case we end up running on a wet day).
